His Place Eatery Continues to Grow and Serve Fast-Casual Soul Food

For the last 15 years, His Place Eatery has been serving up fast-casual soul food in Indianapolis. 

Speaking from his newest location on the city’s north side, James Jones says he started His Place Eatery after completing culinary school. The 86th and Ditch location opened last July.  

After leaving the corporate world, Jones says he never saw himself as a professional chef, but after culinary school, he had the idea of opening a restaurant. In addition to great food, Jones says, “Our brand of hospitality is unique.” He says his chef-inspired soul food also comes with 5-star service.   

Jones says his corporate experience has helped him build a solid foundation for his business, and he looks forward to a future of continued growth. “The sky is the limit,” he says. Customers will always come if you provide excellent service and quality food. 

When giving advice to other entrepreneurs, Jones says, “Failure is a big part of success.” He encourages them to seize every opportunity and to escape their comfort zones.
