A new family-friendly dog park and bar has opened in Westfield.

Megan Schaffer, the owner of Crate Escapes, says the idea for a new dog park and bar came to her and her sister one day when they brainstormed ideas for a new business. After searching for the perfect spot, the pair found a location close to Grand Park in Westfield. 

Crate Escapes features an off-leash dog park, a bar with self-pour beer and wine taps, and a doggy daycare. Schaffer says memberships are available for frequent visitors. 

In addition, Crate Escapes hosts trivia nights, live music, private events, and more. Schaffer even hinted that a full-service restaurant may be opening soon. 

With a history in the wedding and event planning industry, Schaffer says, “We love dogs.” She has a passion for bringing people and animals together in fun spaces. While starting the business with her sister and brother-in-law has had its share of challenges, she says she loves her job and is looking forward to one day expanding the business to other parts of Central Indiana.
