The Indiana CPA Society is working with a national organization to create a career path for more Black accountants.

Courtney Kincaid, the President and CEO of the Indiana CPA Society, says her organization is partnering with the National Association of Black Accountants to launch a program in central Indiana to attract more Black students to a career in accounting.

Kincaid says the program will address the talent pipeline and workforce development issues for the region’s CPA profession and expose Indianapolis-area students from various backgrounds to the profession.

The Indiana CPA Society has worked to address the issue for several years, and Kincaid highlighted their Accounting Careers Awareness Program (ACAP). She says the program targets high school and college students with an in-depth week-long focus on the profession.

Kincaid says several Indiana universities and colleges will be targeted for the new program. “We’re really excited about the opportunity to scale the program through this initiative.” She says the program is a pathway to building a workforce that supports Indiana businesses and the state’s long-term success.

NABA will also open an office in Indianapolis as part of the partnership.
