Tracking Wednesday severe threat and strong non-storm winds | Mar. 18, 2025

Tue evening forecast – Mar 18, 2025

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We are tracking our next weather system for Wednesday. This will bring the chance for strong to severe storms and stronger non-thunderstorm wind gusts.

Then, we could even some wintry precipitation mix in to start spring on Thursday.

Wind advisories will be in effect from 11 AM to 8 PM EDT Wednesday.

Tuesday night: Increasing clouds expected tonight with warmer temperatures. Lows will fall into the mid 50s.

Wednesday: You will want to stay weather aware as we track scattered showers and storms Wednesday afternoon-night that could contain a severe weather threat.

There is a Slight Risk (level 2/5) of severe storms from Indy and points west while the eastern half of Indiana sits in a Marginal Risk (level 1/5). Damaging winds are the primary hazard, but isolated tornadoes and large hail are also possible.

We are also going to deal with strong non-thunderstorm winds with gusts up to 40-45 MPH. Highs look to push into the mid 60s.

Thursday: Colder air will swing around on the backside of this system by Thursday morning. This will give way to the chance for some snow showers to mix in with rain. Yes, this is absolutely a cruel twist given the fact that spring starts on Thursday. No accumulation is expected due to warm ground temperatures. Highs will only make it into the mid 40s.

7-Day Forecast: Forecasted highs from Friday through early next week reach back into the 50s. Isolated showers are possible on Saturday with a scattered chance of showers and storms late Sunday.
