Nice temperatures, breezy conditions Friday | Mar. 21, 2025

Marcus’ 4 a.m. Friday forecast

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The extended pattern looks less chilly, with a warm-up in sight later next week.

Friday:

We’re starting the morning quiet, clear, and cold. Temperatures hovering in the upper 20s and lower 30s allow for some widespread frost across the area.

Warm air advection will return to central Indiana, bringing with it milder temperatures this afternoon. We will start the day off with mostly sunny skies under a big ridge of high pressure, with clouds increasing late in the afternoon. High temperatures will top out in the mid and upper 50s, which is seasonable for this time of year.

Winds will pick up a bit as we head into the afternoon, gusting between 30 to 35 mph. Breezy conditions will continue as we head into the evening hours.

Friday night:

We will continue to see clouds building as we head into the overnight hours. A very weak upper-level wave moving through during the night could bring some very light showers to the northern half of the state.

Otherwise, we look cloudy and quiet with lows dipping down to the lower 40s.

Saturday:

Mainly dry conditions are expected heading into your Saturday with mostly sunny skies and near-normal temperatures. Highs will top out in the mid-50s Saturday afternoon.

Sunday;

An area of low pressure will work through the region on Sunday, bringing with it scattered showers to the area in a couple of waves. The first wave will come in during the early morning hours. In far northern counties, we may be just chilly enough to have a little bit of snow briefly mixing in with some of that rain. A second wave will come in as we head into the afternoon hours as a cold front drags through the state, bringing another shot for showers and maybe even a rumble of thunder for your Sunday afternoon. No severe weather is expected.

Next week:

Following Sunday’s cold front, we will briefly cool down to open up the work week. High temperatures will only hit the upper 40s and lower 50s with breezy conditions and mostly sunny skies. A semi-active pattern settles in for the middle of the week, bringing us near-daily rain chances Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday as temperatures warm back closer to average. As of now, no severe weather is expected, and rain should be relatively light.

Looking deeper into the forecast, it does look as if we will warm up quite a bit by the end of next week and heading into the weekend, with highs returning to the 60s and possibly even 70s as we head into the last weekend of March.
