Academy Award-winning costume designer Ruth E. Carter honored in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – “An Evening with Academy Award-Winning Costume Designer Ruth E. Carter” will celebrate the Children’s Museum exhibit of the work of the renowned costume designer on Saturday, March 22, at the Madam Walker Legacy Center.
The event will feature a presentation of Afrofuturism, showcasing the talents of local artists and designers, including stylist Terry Baptiste and couture designer Nikki Blaine.
“We are collectively doing our presentation as a part of the celebration for Ruth E. Carter,” Nikki Blaine of Nikki Blaine Couture said.
“I am very intrigued to just ask her questions,” Blaine said. “I’m just so excited to get this opportunity to be on the stage with Ruth E. Carter because she is a phenomenal woman.”
Ruth E. Carter is renowned for her work on films such as “Black Panther,” “Malcolm X,” and “Selma,” making her a trailblazer in the costume design industry.
The celebration of Ruth E. Carter‘s work not only honors her contributions to film but also shines a spotlight on the vibrant artistic community in Indianapolis.
