INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Local comedians are expanding the comedy scene in Hamilton County by hosting shows at local breweries, aiming to bring more entertainment to areas north of Indianapolis.

Led by rising comedian Quinn Schlegel and podcast host John Couch, the initiative seeks to provide more stage time for Indianapolis comedians and make comedy more accessible to suburban residents.

“We decided to make it local for Hamilton County and get the Indianapolis comedians up to Hamilton County to start doing more comedy,” said Quinn Schlegel.

The closure of Crackers Comedy Club in Indianapolis has reduced available stage time for local comedians, prompting this initiative to utilize alternative venues.

By partnering with local breweries, Schlegel and Couch aim to support both comedians and businesses, offering entertainment in familiar settings where people already gather.

The comedy shows are organized at venues such as 317 BBQ and West Fork Whiskey, with tickets sold through Local on Tap Tickets, ensuring a local focus.

Schlegel emphasizes the quality of local talent, noting that many comedians have opened for big names but lack sufficient opportunities due to limited venues.

Since November, monthly shows have been held, with the next event scheduled for March 22 at 317 BBQ, followed by performances at West Fork Whiskey in April and Primeval Brewing in May.

The initiative not only provides more opportunities for comedians but also supports local businesses, fostering a vibrant community atmosphere in Hamilton County.
