INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Kenan Rainwater, a musician and founder of Rainwater Studios, is making waves in the local music scene by helping fellow artists produce and share their music.

Rainwater, who started his musical journey with the Indiana Boys, has expanded his focus to support other musicians through his studio. His efforts have been bolstered by collaborations with artists like Corey Flick and Casey Simmons, who are part of his current crew, Flick ‘N’ Rainwater.

“I’ve been the recipient of a lot of encouragement from the local music and artistic community,” Rainwater said, reflecting on his journey from performing at Muddy Boots Coffee Shop to establishing his studio.

Rainwater’s connection with Corey Flick began when Flick was introduced to the studio by musician Rich Hardesty.

“Corey played with Rich, and then he came back, and he chatted me up, and he gave me a harmonica microphone,” Rainwater recounted.

This interaction led to a musical partnership that has grown over time. Rainwater’s studio has become a hub for artists, providing them with the resources and guidance needed to navigate both the creative and business aspects of the music industry.

“Having the studio, you just named a million things that we went to school to learn how to do it. You figured that out on your own,” Rainwater said, highlighting the skills he developed in audio and video engineering.

“A lot of his mentorship and what he does is educate folks on there is a B side to the performance and it is work,” Flick noted, stressing the need for musicians to manage social media, invoicing, and other business tasks.

Rainwater’s involvement with Hard Truth Distillery has allowed him to further support local musicians by booking performances and running sound engineering programs. This role enables him to showcase the talent he has nurtured through his studio.

Rainwater’s dedication to the local music scene has not only fostered a vibrant community of artists but also positioned him as a role model for aspiring musicians. His efforts continue to inspire and support those looking to make their mark in the industry.
