Hungry to help fellow Hoosiers? Don’t miss the ‘Corks & Forks’ fundraiser

Second Helpings preparing for “Corks and Forks”

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — If you have an “appetite” for helping fellow Hoosiers, then leave “plenty of room” on your calendar for the annual Corks & Forks fundraiser on Thursday, March 25.

Corks & Forks will feature 23 chefs and mixologists offering a variety of cocktails and sample-sized dishes, including vegetarian, vegan, and meaty options. The fundraiser supports Second Helpings, an organization that addresses hunger and poverty in central Indiana. Second Helpings benefits from the involvement of local chefs who hire its graduates and donate perishable food.

“It’s supported by all the people that support us, so all the great chefs that hire our graduates and donate food to us are there,” Nora Spitznagel, the chief program officer for Second Helpings, said Friday on Daybreak.

Spitznagel says the venue hosting Corks & Forks is just as special as the event itself.

“It’s on the floor of Gainbridge Fieldhouse, so…right where Caitlin (Clark) and Tyrese (Haliburton) are doing their magic, you can be on the same floor.”

Participating chefs include:

  • Paolo Duenas, Pier 48 Fish House and Oyster Bar
  • Laney Glick, Second Helpings
  • Cindy Hawkins, Circle City Sweets
  • Chuck Humphreys, Levy
  • Kathy Jones, Iozzo’s Garden of Italy
  • Eli Laidlaw, The Alexander
  • Temicka Moore, Sincere Catering
  • Tre’von Sevion, Nameless Catering

Corks & Forks is for guests 21 and older. Drinks will be provided by West Fork Whisky Co., Daniel’s Family Vineyard & Winery, Mallow Run Winery, and Sun King Brewery. Non-alcoholic cocktails will also be available.
