INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Colts have added a piece to their backfield in free agency, reportedly signing running back Khalil Herbert to a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Herbert spent four seasons in Chicago with the Bears before being traded midway through his fourth season to the Bengals, where he finished out the 2024 season.

He had his two most productive seasons in 2022 and 2023, where he combined for 1,342 yards on the ground and six touchdowns, as well as 191 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

Herbert joins Jonathan Taylor and Tyler Goodson in the Colts running back room. Former Colts running back Evan Hull signed with the Steelers and Trey Sermon is a free agent.

NFL free agency officially started at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, and the Colts announced signings of safety Camryn Bynum, cornerback Charvarius Ward, and quarterback Daniel Jones.

The Colts also re-signed center Wesley French, guard/center Danny Pinter, and wide receiver Ashton Dulin.
