INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Highlighting the rise of girls flag football was the theme of a Thursday event at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The Indianapolis Colts have unveiled a display in the stadium that highlights the rise of girls flag football across the state.

Kalen Jackson, vice chair and owner of the Colts, said at a media event, “This day means so much to us. I think back to the journey that began in 2023 with only eight teams which even then that was exciting for us. To be able to say that we have reached over the halfway mark to our road to 100 is kind of like a pinch me moment for us. There’s been so much work, so many conversations, so much commitment from our staff.”

The Colts have prioritized introducing flag football to fans and players, especially girls, since they traditionally haven’t had the same opportunities to learn the game as boys.
