Mobile clinic for measles, mumps, rubella vaccine set in Bloomington
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — The Indiana Department of Health and the Monroe County Health Department will host a mobile measles, mumps and rubella vaccine clinic on March 31 at the Monroe County Public Library Southwest Branch in Bloomington.
The clinic, from 1:30-5:30 p.m., is open to unvaccinated people and to adults born after 1957 who received their vaccines between 1962 and 1968.
Lori Kelley, administrator of the Monroe County Health Department, said in a news release issued Tuesday, “Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent measles, mumps, and rubella. By hosting this clinic, we hope to make it easier for community members to protect themselves and their loved ones from these preventable diseases.”
Children are recommended to receive two doses of the vaccine, the first from 12 months-15 months of age, and the second at 4-6 years before starting kindergarten.
Anyone younger than 18 attending the clinic must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
The Monroe County Public Library Southwest Branch is at 890 W. Gordon Pike. That’s west of the roundabout for South Rogers Street.
