Pet Pals TV: The role of pet refuges

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Each and every week, “Pet Pals TV” shares a fun, interesting, and informative story about our-four legged and furry friend population.

On the latest “Pet Pals TV,” Pet Pals reporter Renee Jameson fills in for Patty to share how pets get a second chance through rescues.

Animal shelters do great work by helping pets connect with a new family, however Jameson says they are overwhelmed not only by the amount of animals, but with how little economic flexibility adopting families have.

Jameson said a church was transformed into a cat sanctuary, called Midwest Pet Refuge. The rescue spays, neuters, vaccinates, and even microchips their pets. To help raise funds for the animals, Midwest Pet Refuge accepts donations that they then sell in a “mini bookstore.” All of the money goes back to the shelter.
