INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was killed Thursday in a shooting on the city’s west side, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department says in a news release.

At 3:08 p.m. Thursday, IMPD Southwest and Southeast District officers responded to a report of a person shot in the 9100 block of Wellston Drive. That is the location of Mariwood, a modular home community near the Hendricks County/Marion County line. Officers arrived to the scene and found an adult male with gunshot wound injuries.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner’s Office identified him Friday as 48-year-old Kyle Sallee.

A person of interest was taken into custody immediately after officers arrived. That person was interviewed at the IMPD Homicide Office and later arrested for murder. Formal charges have not ben filed.
