Damage reported after storms impact Johnson County
FRANKLIN, Ind. (Daily Journal) — Reports of damage are coming in after a storm brought high winds to Johnson County on Wednesday night.
In Franklin, damage was reported in the area of the Franklin Skate Rink, near Commerce Drive and U.S. 31. A storage building immediately to the south of the rink, and on the same property, lost part of its roof, said Joshua Snyder, fire chief.
A couple of nearby light poles are down, and damage was also reported for some cars in the area. No injuries were reported, said Kirby Cochran, police chief.
Elsewhere in the county, there have been several reports of downed power lines and trees blocking roadways, according to scanner traffic. At least three trees have fallen on structures in the county, including two in Greenwood, the Greenwood Fire Department said in a Facebook post.
Over 1,600 Johnson County REMC customers are without power as of just before 9 p.m. Crews are working to restore power as soon as possible, the utility said in a Facebook post.
Duke Energy is reporting about 680 outages in the Johnson County area.
Outside Johnson County, a possible tornado was reported east of Columbus in Bartholomew County.
